Purpose
The Successful Projects Lite Workshop helps an organization to rapidly assess how their project management (environment and processes) compares to industry best practices and then build a plan for addressing gaps and optimizing the tools, process, and organization for success.
Outcomes
The workshop produces two key outcomes. A diagnostic report showing how project management practices score relative to industry best practices and a road map for building greater PM maturity while reducing the likelihood of project failures.
Format
Successful Projects 'Lite' is centered on a two-day off-site workshop. The process begins with a pre-workshop facilitator familiarization and an information gathering interview with the key leader. The workshop’s first day uses discussions with key leaders and project management staff to establish where challenges exist in the current organization, tools and processes. The second day uses the results of this diagnosis to outline a plan for improvement.
Pre-requisites
Initial PM Maturity level
The 'Lite' approach is designed for an organization that performs projects reasonably well but is looking to improve by taking its PM processes and tools to the next level. If the organization is new to formal project management or finds each project managed differently then a more extensive PM diagnostic is recommended.
Off-site Location
The workshop must be held “off-site” to ensure participants can ‘focus’ on the task at hand. The benefits realized from the workshop are directly proportional to participant engagement so it is recommended that cellphones, blackberries and laptops be switched off until the breaks.
